Believe? Oh I believe...
Most people who know me are aware of my Catholic upbringing. I tend to keep to myself however, the strength I still find in it when I am lost. It is not a common thing to talk about these days, for fear of being shunned or laughed at but it is true to me, to who I am.
My faith begins in Christianity. I have always had a belief in reincarnation which goes against every teaching of the Bible... or does it?
My question: What is the difference between eternal life and reincarnation? Why can't we experience both? I feel like all the religions are correct, collectively, they are correct. If God is omnipotent and all powerful, how could he not manage a small thing like everyone having a sliver of correctness. I know I'm an old soul. I can hear the scoffs from the back. I don't fit here neatly. I never have. Growing up, that was a hard lesson to acknowledge.

I believe in reincarnation, as it is, is the opportunity to learn. We are endevoured to repeat cycles until we learn from them or break the pattern. I am here now to break the pattern, this is my job in this life. My job is to learn about the eternal life after I have learned all I am meant to. I may not completely succeed in this life but I will surely bring this knowledge into my next. I am here to bring it together, to show you there is no them and us, it's just us! Humanity, Earthlings, beasts, bugs, reptiles! We are us!
Pope Leo XIV spoke out today about Trump and the growing war in Iran. He stated it is his duty as a spiritual leader to call out the injustices he sees. Most people have criticised his stance as being too political. The war between Iran and the US is not politics anymore! It is the fight for humans, the fight for the right to exist.
All of humanity is feeling the strain. We are made up mainly of generations who have never witnessed a world war, the devestation and distruction it can bring. This is why we teach it in our schools; in the hope the mistakes of our past are not repeated in the present. Trump obviously missed the memo and the timing of learning about the injustices.
Hitler came into power trying to make Germany great again. He blamed the Jews for the downfall of his country. See any parallels? MAGA vs immigrants, ICE raids in Minnesota. The little person is offered power by supporting a greater power and as such all humanity disappears from the individual. Following blindly can be seen poetically but put the wrong person in charge... and here we are.
Now in my forties, I realise it doesn't matter if I'm good all the time. All that matters is how I perceive myself and how I treat others. Treat me with respect, you will receive it in turn. Do the opposite and my ire will break your protective coating. You get to decide how I treat you.
All I know is, I can't stand by and stay silent anymore. We are living in a time where the reality of our situation is constantly shifting. We can all feel a climax building but will we end up with the results of Hitler and Nazi Germany, or might we be lucky enough to witness again, the political resolve of JFK and his last minute call which halted all out war in the sixties. We are on the brink, something huge is coming and silence and bystanding are no longer an option. We need to be guided by humanity, by our ethics and morals. There is no clear line anymore, if there ever was.
COVID created the borders of our world, now here we are, using the same battle cry for a different purpose. Before it was protection, now it's the fear of who will attack me. How did we end up so backwards after a few short years?
It is scary, the current situation. Even Australia is being forced to play a role. Senator Penny Wong stated matter-of-factly yesterday, we will be engaged in this war but as a protective force. We clearly don't want to be involved but we know it's the right move for everyone. We are the little guy but even David beat Goliath. All we need now is to have a bit of faith in the right people.
